The MSG manufacturers and the processed food industries are always on a quest to disguise the MSG added to food.  Below is a partial list of the most common names for disguised MSG.

Despite numerous findings by government agencies and health institutions, the FDA refuses to take any action that would prohibit the use of MSG. As with many uncontrolled substances, it all comes down to money. The sale of Monosodium Glutamate is big business.  So, it’s unlikely that any government agency will limit the use of MSG. In such circumstances, it is up to consumers to become informed to protect themselves.

These symptoms below are a main reason people make doctors appointments not realizing that their symptoms may be a side effect of MSG intake.    Some side effects of  MSG  are:

  • Headache, sometimes called MSG headache, migraine
  • Flushing, sweating, swelling, weakness
  • Sense of facial pressure or tightness
  • Numbness, tingling or burning in or around the mouth, skin rash
  • Rapid, fluttering heartbeats (heart palpitations)
  • Chest pain, Shortness of breath, inability to breath, heart irregularities,
  • reproductive disorders,
  • Nausea, gastrointestinal distress
  • paralysis, stroke, alzheimers, dementia, epilepsy,  neurophathic pain, MS, Parkinsons
  • brain damage, mental confusion, , schizophrenia, learning disabilities, behavior disabilities

 

Unfortunately some foods at the health food store have these ingredients to “improve the taste”.  For example Whole Foods homemade soups have some of these ingredients for flavor enhancement.  They state them on their ingredients.  They could easily use real spices instead of these chemicals.   I talked to the staff about this but I did not have any success with them removing MSG  from they food.                                                               Please read labels at health food stores.
